Damascus Moroha Tanto with stainless wire wrap handle
East meets West, my interpretation of a Kissaki-moroha tanto.
Fully sweeping grind lines, both on the false edge, as well as the main edge are my signature throughout my styles. While the original Kissaki-moroha tanto has two sharp edges, the top edge has not been sharpened on this one, but is close enough to accomplish the task. The distinctively different handle, is more of a European design, wrapped with twisted stainless steel wire on a solid hard maple core, with leather wrap to prevent movement of the wire.
The Tsuba (guard) on the Tanto is of stainless steel, satin finished, the Kashira (butt cap) is textured on the rear. The business end is a forged carbon Damascus blade of 1080 and 15N20 in a 320 layer semi ladder pattern.
The sheath, also known as saya is of vegetable tan cow leather, lined with Ultrasuede ™ and overlayed with lilac colored koi leather. The belt knob was custom turned and textured in the same style as the Kashira.
