Custom Orders

All the knives on my "Available" page are for sale at the listed price. I am located in Canada and my website offers pricing in US, Canadian and Euro currencies via drop down selector. Prices are excluding shipping and taxes if applicable and those will be calculated on checkout. Each knife page has a contact form with knife title should you like additional information. By purchasing you confirm you are over the age of majority.

A 50% deposit is required on all confirmed orders, with the balance due upon completion of the knife. I might require a higher deposit for unusual materials, precious metal, gemstones used, or unusual designs. I reserve the option to refund the deposit if the order is canceled at any time by the customer after the deposit is received.

Steps:

  1. Contact me and let me know your wishes
  2. I will email you an estimated cost.
  3. You approve the quote by sending me a deposit.
  4. Work begins and I regularly update you on the progress.
  5. It's done, you send me the final payment and your knife gets shipped.

Terms of Payment:

I accept bank transfer (wire, fees apply), e-transfers, checks, money orders, cashier's checks in Canadian, U.S. and Euro currencies. I accept credit cards via PayPal, a proven and secure online payment provider. Please do not send card number via e-mail. I will ship to a CONFIRMED PAYPAL SHIPPING ADDRESS ONLY and it must match the shipping address on your order. No exceptions! Orders will be shipped after payments have cleared. Final payments are due within 10 days upon your knife being finished, or in case of personalizing (engraving etc.) before this has been applied. If payment is not received within 10 days, I reserve the right to relist the knife for sale. There is a $35.00 service charge on all returned checks. Any refunds processed are exclusive of the payment processor fees, shipping charges or other costs, unless I make a mistake on my end.

Shipping & Returns

All orders will be shipped via Canada Post or courier and will be individually packed for secure shipping.

Little known facts about shipping: FOB (ownership transfer point) is when the product is given to the shipping agent (carrier). Delivery to a carrier will constitute delivery to the customer, and risk of loss or damage to the products will pass to the customer at this point. Products paid for and held by Haslinger Knives at the customer's request will be held at the customer's risk and expense. All loss and damage issues must be settled with the shipper. If required, I will provide assistance to you to resolve any shipper disputes. This process can at times be lengthy, so your patience is appreciated.

Returns:

If you should for any reason not be pleased with your order, please contact me. I will gladly be of assistance to you. No returns on custom or personalized orders.

Returns must be approved and returned to me in original condition, with all original items included, securely packed and insured within 3 days of delivery. No used or altered items will be taken back. A restocking charge of 25% will apply. I will not accept any return COD packages. Items must be returned by regular mail, insured. Any other exchanges or returns are approved subject to customer liability for freight costs incurred. Contact me before sending any returns.

International Customers:

I welcome international customer purchases. I strongly recommend purchasing shipping insurance to cover loss or damage, as lost international shipments will not be replaced. Please consider arranging insurance at the time of your order — I will purchase it on your behalf and bill you accordingly.

All international shipment orders are shipped via Canada Post or courier. Upon customer request, I can ship via other methods, however they tend to be pricier. Rates are published at your carrier of choice's website. If a parcel is non-deliverable, the customer is responsible for all costs incurred for the item/s return shipping to me.

All international purchases will be billed via PayPal invoice. You are not required to have a PayPal account to pay this invoice.

Customs and imports into your country are regulated by your country's applicable laws. It is your responsibility to ensure you are aware of such laws and import restrictions. Some materials might require extra documentation, which I will help you source if you inform me of such requirements. However, this is no guarantee that your country allows import. Please inquire with your country's customs authority for more information. I am not responsible for items seized by any customs officials.

I will not undervalue shipments or mark them as a gift.

I do not automatically gather any personal information from you, such as your name, phone number, e-mail or address. This information is only obtained if you supply it voluntarily, usually through contacting me via e-mail. Any personal information you do provide is protected under the federal Privacy Act. I do not and will not sell or share customer information — i.e. names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc. — unless required to do so by law. I obviously need your name, address, phone, email, etc. to do business, but all that information stays with me. Your privacy is my main concern.

I also keep your payment, shipping and billing information private and secure. I use PayPal as a payment processor for credit cards and e-checks. As such, that information is shared directly with the payment processor and I have no knowledge of your credit card information.

All of your private information you voluntarily share with me stays with me. I do not and will not share, sell, or trade customer information. I am here to provide you with the best custom knife buying and ordering experience. I have no dealings with any marketing companies.

Warranty

Workmanship is guaranteed on every knife as long as I am physically able to work. Altering or modifying anything on a knife created by Haslinger Knives, as well as misuse or abuse of the knife, will void all warranties. "Flicking" folders open constitutes misuse and will void the warranty. This warranty doesn't cover normal wear and tear or customer-supplied materials. This includes improper use, abuse, negligence, or accident. Examples of normal wear and tear include sharpening, scratches on the blade and handle surface from regular use, and the breakdown of materials due to normal wear and tear or misuse over an extended period of time — e.g. soaking in water or dishwasher washing.

Unfortunately I cannot give any warranty on natural materials due to their inherent nature. I do my utmost to stabilize such materials as ivory, woods, etc., but this does not guarantee their long-term stability. Climate changes and customer care will also have an influence on them. Each knife is custom made by hand and there are variations from one knife to another. Handles are typically scaled to your required blade length for overall balance and performance, so the overall length of a particular knife might differ from listed dimensions. Damascus is a handmade item and pattern changes can occur from side to side — this adds to the beauty of the materials.

Any warranty applies to the original owner and is transferable upon sale. To ensure proper care information is passed on to the new owner, please contact me when transferring ownership.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Every knife is individually handcrafted and finished by hand. Natural handle materials such as wood, antler, bone, or burl wood will vary slightly, making each knife unique.

The steel type is listed in the product specifications. Depending on the model, blades may be forged from Damascus steel, high-carbon steel, stainless steel, or specialty alloys selected for edge retention and durability.

I use the term Damascus steel universally within my site to describe pattern-welded steel. Damascus is created by forging multiple layers of steel together to produce distinctive flowing patterns. Modern Damascus combines beauty with excellent strength and edge performance.

Each knife is unique. Natural handle materials and Damascus patterns vary from piece to piece. The knife you receive will closely match the photographs but may have slight differences in grain, color, and pattern.

Yes. All knives are inspected and sharpened before shipment to ensure they arrive ready for use.

Most hunting and outdoor knives include a leather or custom sheath. Please refer to the product description for specific details.

Damascus, high-carbon and even stainless knife steels can develop rust if neglected. Keeping the blade clean, dry, and lightly oiled will help maintain its appearance and performance.

Hand wash and dry the blade after each use. Apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or blade oil when storing the knife for extended periods. Never place handmade knives in a dishwasher. Do not store knives in leather sheaths for an extended period of time.

Sharpening frequency depends on use. Regular honing helps maintain the edge, while full sharpening is only needed when the blade no longer cuts efficiently.

I accept bank transfers (wire), e-transfers, checks, money orders, and cashier's checks in Canadian, U.S., and Euro currencies. I also accept credit cards securely via PayPal. Please do not send card details by email.

Knives listed on my Available page are ready to ship and typically dispatched within a few business days of payment clearing. Custom orders require additional production time, which I will discuss with you at the time of your order.

No returns are accepted on custom or personalized orders. For other knives, returns must be approved in advance, returned within 3 days of delivery in original unused condition, and are subject to a 25% restocking fee. Please contact me before sending anything back.

Many hours go in the creation of each of my work in addition to the premium materials that are used. Parts for each knife are mostly custom made to high tolerances and finishes.
