The Golden Dagger in Damascus and Mother of Pearl
This piece is currently unavailable — inquire below to discuss a commission.
Meticulous Mother of Pearl inlays adorn the fully sculpted Damascus handle, creating one of the most striking features of this exceptional dagger.
Another defining element is the substantial solid gold guard and pommel, lending the piece both visual presence and impressive weight. In total, 10.2 ounces of gold (as cast) were used in its construction. The blade was forged from 1084 and 15N20 steel in a modified ladder pattern, accented by a bold 15N20 banding layer that gives the Damascus a dramatic and distinctive appearance.
The fully fluted HCK solid Damascus handle has been intricately sculpted and inlaid with Mother of Pearl not only across the flat surfaces, but also along the rounded sides — a highly demanding process due to the handle’s contoured form.
All inlay work was completed entirely by hand, beginning with 6 mm thick Mother of Pearl. The pommel is further enhanced with a AAA-grade ammonite displaying a full spectrum of natural color. The engraving was executed by the late Darren Reeves of Montana.
