This piece is currently unavailable — inquire below to discuss a commission.
Made for a major urban Fire Department Pipe and Drums Band, this elegant Sgian Dubh shows in a traditional design.
The Sgain dubh is an all purpose knife able to stand up to daily use yet it is still accepted as fashionable dress. The fittings on the knife are of German Silver, also known as nickel silver, which have been very slightly rounded to eliminate any sharp edges and hand satin finished.
The handle and sheath where crafted from Gabon ebony and finished with an hand rubbed oil finish.
The pommel stone is of red jasper and it was known as 'the warrior's stone'. Inlayed into the handle is the Maltese logo 'collar dog' of the Calgary Fire Department, which is copyrighted.
The tartan in the background of some of the images is the official tartan of 'The City of Calgary' and is registered with the Scottish tartan registry and open for anyone to use. More information on the Calgary Fire Department Pipe and Drums can be found at their website www.firepipeband.com
